Modern Slavery Policy

1. Introduction

This statement is made in accordance with section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines the steps CAN Solutions has taken during the financial year to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and supply chain.

CAN Solutions is committed to operating responsibly and ethically. We acknowledge that modern slavery, in all its forms, including forced labour, human trafficking, and exploitation, is a global issue, and we are dedicated to ensuring that it has no place in our organisation or supply chain.

2. Organisational Structure and Supply Chains

CAN Solutions provides telecommunications, broadband, and energy services to businesses across the UK. Our supply chain consists of UK-based suppliers and international partners providing technology, equipment, and services that support our business operations.

We recognise that supply chains in telecommunications and technology sectors can be complex and have varying degrees of risk in relation to modern slavery. To mitigate these risks, we engage in ongoing due diligence to monitor and assess our suppliers.

3. Our Policies on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking

We are committed to ensuring there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or any part of our business. Our internal policies reflect our dedication to ethical business practices and the following key principles:

  • Code of Conduct: This sets out the standards of integrity, transparency, and respect that we expect from all employees and business partners.

  • Supplier Code of Conduct: This ensures that our suppliers uphold the same high standards in areas such as labour practices, human rights, and environmental responsibility.

4. Due Diligence Processes

As part of our commitment to tackling modern slavery, CAN Solutions has implemented the following due diligence measures:

  • Risk Assessments: We conduct risk assessments of our supply chains to identify areas where the risk of modern slavery may be higher.

  • Supplier Audits: We regularly audit suppliers and partners, particularly those in higher-risk categories, to ensure they comply with our ethical standards.

  • Supplier Agreements: We require all new suppliers to agree to our anti-slavery standards and include relevant clauses in our contracts.

5. Risk Assessment and Management

We have identified key areas in our supply chain that could be vulnerable to modern slavery risks. These include the sourcing of technology and equipment from international markets. To address these risks, we:

  • Focus on building long-term relationships with suppliers who share our ethical values.

  • Monitor and review supply chain practices regularly, ensuring they align with our zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery.

6. Training and Awareness

We believe that raising awareness among employees is crucial to preventing modern slavery. We have implemented training programs to ensure that employees understand the risks of modern slavery and can recognise the signs of exploitation. All employees are encouraged to report concerns, and managers are responsible for ensuring compliance with this statement.

7. Reporting and Whistleblowing

We provide clear mechanisms for employees, suppliers, and partners to report any concerns about modern slavery or human trafficking. Our Whistleblowing Policy guarantees that anyone who raises concerns in good faith will be protected from retaliation.

8. Effectiveness and Monitoring

We regularly review and assess the effectiveness of the measures we have implemented to combat modern slavery. We will continue to improve our approach by refining our due diligence processes, engaging with our supply chain, and reviewing our policies to ensure alignment with best practices.

9. Future Steps

In the coming year, we plan to:

  • Increase engagement with our suppliers on modern slavery issues, particularly in higher-risk regions or sectors.

  • Expand training programs to cover more employees and key partners in our supply chain.

  • Continue auditing suppliers and increasing accountability through enhanced contract provisions.

This statement was approved by the board of directors of CAN Solutions on 15th September 2024 and will be reviewed and updated annually.
